Learn How to Make Meetings Work

Written by Andy Mckendry | Fri, May 27, 2016

It’s Friday, after 5pm, and it’s summer. In a hot sweltering office with the blinds drawn, soundtracked by the whir of an old fan projector, a group of people sit in suits and ties. The meeting began hours ago, but despite this, there’s still no end in sight. All you can and everyone else can think about is getting home.

Does this sound familiar?

For too many of us, meetings at work simply don't feel necessary. They loom above us, they're arduous, and no one seems to know how to get around (or out of) them. There are no actionable or realistic goals to work towards. Instead time is squandered, not spent, and everyone becomes frustrated.

But the good news is, meetings can be effective. If led right, they can keep everyone on track, and they can spur us on to achieve more as a team. The key? Using the right meeting type, at the right time, with the right employees in attendance.

  • Updates
  • Brainstorms
  • One to Ones
  • Scrums
