We all know how much of a rollercoaster it can be to recruit during the summer months. Whether you’re trying to run three desks at once because everyone else is on holiday or you're arranging interviews from the beach, I think we can all relate to these GIFs!
The great thing about summer is that you get to take a break from your job as a recruiter and become the office receptionist for all of your colleagues who are off enjoying their holidays!
Not only are you trying to hit your own target during the slowest part of the year, you also need to babysit your colleague's desk while they're on holiday.
Despite how hard you work, managing two desks at the same time is an absolute nightmare - and let's face it, answering their emails isn't going to make you any commission!
Trying to get your clients' and candidates' calendars to line up over July and August is pretty much impossible, so don’t be surprised when all your interviews are booked in a month in advance.
On the bright side, at least your candidates have lots of time to prep for the interview!
Your manager:
Your KPIs don't disappear over summer… even if all your clients do.
It doesn't matter how hard you've worked this year, if you've got no fees on the board this month, don't expect any sympathy from your manager.
If your pipeline is solid, hopefully that'll be enough to convince them, but you might want to start planning for winter break instead!
You finally jet off for the break you've been working so hard towards, only to find yourself still filling jobs from the pool.
Eventually you have to go back to reality – unfortunately reality involves 1,000 unread emails.
Hopefully you relaxed as much as possible when you were away, because you can guarantee at least half your temps have had timesheet issues, payroll problems or have walked out a job.
At least you'll have a great tan though!
