Having a recruitment blog on your agency’s website may not be one of your main priorities. But it should be. Producing quality blogs can bring traffic back to your website, as well as bringing in new business opportunities and attracting the best talent back to your agency and brand. Follow these 10 top tips to start building a successful recruitment blog:
1. Pick a tone of voice
When starting your blog you should decide what tone you want to get across. Generally casual works best when you’re blogging, but keep your target audience in mind. Think about your area of expertise as this will define whom your reader will be. Striking a balance between sounding professional and being fun will help attract more readers to your blog post.2. Be social
Starting a blog gives you attractive, regular content to share out on your social media sites. Making it worth reading and sharing on social media is also an easy way to expand your audience and boost your SEO. Providing context, evaluating relevant topics and challenging yourself to write original content will help make your recruitment blog stand out from the crowd on social media.3. Showcase your experience
The best way to create authority in your sector is by providing information that your target market find useful. Topics of interest, handy ‘how-to’s’ and step by step guides are bound to be well received. And if your clients are impressed by your knowledge and believe you to be the best, they’ll be more likely to consider your offers that those of your rival.4. Keep it regular
Consistency is key. Decide from the outset the frequency of posting new blogs. If you only have time to post once a week then try to stick to posting once a week. However blogging consistently will help attract a greater audience to your website and will improve your SEO.5. Encourage interaction
Asking your audience to add their comments on various blog posts is a great way to get people talking about your blog. Also, it’s a great way to get feedback on your posts and gain some new ideas for future posts. Make sure commenting is easily accessible and write about subjects that gets people talking positively. If people can interact on your blog, they’ll keep coming back for more.6. Connect with your audience
It is important that you connect with your audience. For example producing blogs about the difficulties clients and candidates face when looking for jobs is more likely to connect with them since you are showing that you understand the stresses they are going through. If you can create an emotive bond between you and your client, there’s a high likelihood of repeat custom.7. Make sure people can find your blog
If you plan to share your blog on social media channels, start building your following and connections now. Think about which channels your target audience is likely to be on, and focus your energy there. Also make sure your website and blog is mobile friendly. Your social traffic is likely to be from mobile or device users and it is important that they can read your posts with ease.8. Give your posts punchy titles
When thinking about things to blog about, write articles that have punchy titles. Think about what terms you would put into search engines and create titles based on that to get the most organic hits.9. Invite guest bloggers
Inviting guest bloggers is a great way to gain new insights and new perspectives from people who are not working in the recruitment sector. Also inviting someone who is keen on writing and has had a positive experience with your recruitment agency is a great way to further connect with your clients as well as them gaining some writing experience.10. Spell checking and proof-reading
Finally it may be stating the obvious but it is crucial to check your spelling and proofread your article again and again (like I have done hopefully). Bad spelling will not only ruin your agencies credibility and reputation, it will also damage your SEO, as search engines won’t pick up misspelled keywords. Make sure everything is checked before it goes live.
