Google for Jobs finally started rolling out in the UK this month, and already we’re starting to see the impact it will potentially have on the recruitment industry. But have you swotted up on how Google for Jobs actually works and what you can do to use it to your advantage as a recruiter?
Around 300 million employment-related Google searches are performed every month by active and passive job seekers. The way that people look for and apply to jobs has changed drastically in the last decade or so and - as with many other industries making the shift to online - Google has a lot ot say for this!
Therefore, it’s hardly surprising that the search engine decided to officially jump into the recruitment industry by launching their own job search feature, Google for Jobs.
Essentially, Google knows there’s money to be made in our $200 billion industry, and it wants a slice of the pie!
Time to get up to speed...
Whether we like it or not, millions of quality candidates are making Google their first step when looking for a move, so it’s crucial we get up to speed on what the search engine needs from us in order to start including our job ads in seeker search results so we gain maximum visibility.
And if you're worried about any potential threat you think Google for Jobs could pose, think of it this way: When you’re faced with a substantial change in your industry that's out of your control (that old familiar acronym GDPR comes to mind!), the biggest threat of all is to ignore the change in the hope that it'll go away.
Which is why we decided to put together a Google for Jobs Playbook that you can use to help get your job pages optimised and set yourself up nicely to begin reaping the benefits of this exciting new job-search feature.
